「Royal Society Publishing 攝影比賽 2017」以自然風景為主題，從太空、生態、氣候等角度欣賞大自然。大會今年收到超過 1100 幅作品，並於最近公佈了得獎結果。上圖就是今年的總冠軍及「Earth science and climatology」組別第一名：由 Peter Convey 拍攝的「Icy Sugar Cubes」。照片攝於 1995 年，展示了南極洲冰層不尋常地向兩個方向移動的情況，而剛好飛過的飛機則可作為冰層的大小比例參考。
