五年前，美國軍人 Matthew Callahan 在阿富汗受了傷，他回國休養並開始了攝影這個興趣，後來他回到海軍陸戰隊，並成為了戰鬥通訊員，也把他的興趣投入到工作之中，拍攝不少厲害的作品 (早前更有照片獲年度比賽優異獎)。而他最近受到注目的作品「Galactic Warfighters」，就是使用了電影「星球大戰」中的白兵模型，拍攝出有如戰場般真實的作品。

其作品的目標，就是讓面無表情的白兵變得更為人性化，將現實軍人在戰場遇到的實況，在他們身上呈現出來。攝影師不少取材來源，都是真實的戰地照片，也因此影像創作更有質感。沒錯，大家都知道戰爭很恐怖、很殘酷，而當影像以模型來演出時，卻又有很不同的感覺，到底是超現實，抑或更現實，大家可自行感悟一下。

Behind the Photo: My last posted image,"Playing Jazz," was a reimagining of the top photo I took in 2013 of the same name while I was in the Kingdom of Thailand. These Marines were set up in an improvised firing position during a live-fire company-level attack drill. Discernible difference being the choice of weaponry. Can't get my hands on an M110 SASS 1/6. CASEVAC: Clone troopers rush a gravely wounded soldier to a casualty evacuation point at an undisclosed location. Republic gunships hovered over the troopers to provide close air support until the CASEVAC low altitude assault transport came on station. The troopers were conducting a security patrol outside their company forward operating base when the droid forces attacked. This image of 12-inch action figures is part of a larger photo essay telling the stories of the rank-and-file ground troops of the Star Wars universe through the lens of a combat correspondent. Conflict generally has been one of the biggest informants in the way pop culture creates stories. Backblast Area CLEAR! Advanced Recon and Airborne Commandos fire a Mk 153 shoulder-fired multi-purpose assault weapon during joint weapons system familiarization training. The projectile explosive weapon is used to bust tanks and bunkers for light infantry.
